TCRA Breaks Ground on Taxiway R Extension

TRI has broken ground on a project that will improve airfield safety and open additional land for economic development. Using one of the largest grants in the Airport’s history, TCRA will construct the final section of pavement for Taxiway R, which will provide a full parallel taxiway south of Runway 5-23, the Airport’s main runway. Extending Taxiway R requires the relocation of a portion of Hamilton Rd., which skirts the west side of Airport property. In addition to accommodating the taxiway extension, relocating Hamilton Road will open direct airfield access to approximately 140 acres of Airport property for aviation-related industrial development.  Read more...

TRAVEL ADVISORY: Highway 75 Road Construction Affecting Travel Time to TRI

Passengers going to TRI who normally use Highway 75 between Gray and Blountville are strongly advised to take I-26 North and I-81 North as an alternate route to get to the Airport. Road expansion work and construction on Highway 75 is causing traffic tie-ups and lengthy wait times for drivers in that area. Drivers should plan for an additional 10-20 minutes of travel time when using this route.  Read more...
