Blountville, TN: Tri-Cities Regional Airport has joined the social media community and invites the public to connect online for conversations, the latest news and quick updates. A new section titled "My Airspace" has been added to the Airport website at http://www.triflight.com/ and links visitors directly to "The Observation Deck" blog and TRI's Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr pages.
"Launching into social media will allow us to connect quicker with the public and introduce TRI to segments of the population who are extremely comfortable with electronic communication," said Melissa Thomas, TCRA director of marketing and air service development.
"The Observation Deck" blog features posts about Airport happenings and insights on aviation news. Facebook users can sign up to be a "Fan" of the Airport and view TRI postings, the latest news, photographs, video and Fan comments. Twitter users can sign up to receive short messages from the Airport about fare sales, flight delays and other important notices at www.twitter.com/triflight. To view the Airport's online photo album, visitors can go to the Airport's Flickr page at http://www.flickr.com/photos/triflight/.
"The full potential of social media as a form of communication is still yet to be determined, but we are excited to be opening up this more casual form of conversation with the public," says Thomas.
