(Blountville, Tenn.)-- After nearly three years in operation, Delta Air Lines is discontinuing the nonstop flight between Tri-Cities Regional Airport and Orlando International Airport (MCO) at the end of November. Unfortunately load factors on that flight dropped after Allegiant Air began low fare, nonstop service into Orlando Sanford Airport (SFB) in May.

"With Allegiant’s announcement of a third weekly flight to Orlando beginning Nov. 8 and a fourth weekly flight scheduled to begin in late February, Delta’s decision to shift its aircraft elsewhere is understandable," says Melissa Thomas, director of marketing and air service development. "While we regret losing the Delta nonstop service to Orlando, Allegiant’s low fares have made flying to Florida a more affordable option for many vacationers. Allegiant is also adding nonstop, low fare service between Tri-Cities and Ft. Lauderdale beginning Dec. 12."

Passengers can still fly to Orlando International Airport (MCO) on Delta Connection by connecting through the Atlanta or Cincinnati hubs on one of nine daily departures from TRI.
