(Blountville, Tenn.) --With sunglasses and flip-flops in tow, Tri-Cities, TN/VA residents today take off for the fun and sun of Orlando, Fla. as low-fare airline, Allegiant Air, inaugurates nonstop service from Tri-Cities Regional Airport to the Sunshine State. To celebrate, the low-cost airline is offering a special $69* one-way fare to Orlando.
"We are extremely pleased to expand the Allegiant brand of low-fare, nonstop, jet service to the Tri-Cities communities," Maurice J. Gallagher, Allegiant Air president and CEO, said. "This is an exciting new addition for our airline and our customers as we launch the only nonstop, low-cost air service between the Tri-Cities and Orlando."
The new service operates two times weekly, with service Thursday and Sunday. Flights depart Tri-Cities Regional Airport at 7:45 p.m. arriving in Orlando Sanford International Airport at 9:40 p.m. Flights leaving Orlando will depart at 5:20 p.m. arriving in the Tri-Cities at 7:10 p.m. (all flight times are local.)
"The Airport Commission is very pleased to have the opportunity to work with Allegiant Air to bring low-fare service to the region," said Patrick Wilson, TCRA Executive Director. "Allegiant’s low prices will provide the ability for more people to travel by air from the Tri-Cities Airport."
The $69* sale fares are available for a limited time and must be purchased by June 2, 2007 at an Allegiant airport ticket counter for travel completed by Nov. 7, 2007. Reservations may be made through the company’s website at www.allegiantair.com, the airline’s Reservations Center at 702-505-8888 or professional travel agents.
The carrier will utilize a full-size, 150-seat MD-80 jet aircraft on the route. The airline said its market research and input from local community leaders indicate that the Tri-Cities community will welcome the new nonstop flights and low fares to Orlando.
The Allegiant Vacations division of the company will offer low-cost packages with 19 of Orlando’s most exciting hotel properties and 17 in Daytona Beach. Partner properties include The Swan, The Dolphin, The Hilton in Lake Buena Vista and the Radisson Parkway. Low-cost packages are available to include hotel, car and amusement park tickets for additional savings.
